Keeping electrical safety in check

Keeping electrical safety in check

Ahead of the game

9th June 2022

Last week we attended a course run by our industry accreditation body – the NICEIC – which covered all the new Requirements for Electrical Installations 18th Edition Amendment 2. In a nutshell, the Amendment covers a new requirement for Arc Fault Detection Devices (AFDDs), updated requirements for the safety design for buildings and a new chapter on Prosumer's Low Voltage Electrical Installations.

The new regulations manual came into effect in March 2022 with a six-month transition period before its predecessor is withdrawn in September.

By undertaking the course now, we’re already fully up to speed with the new regulations before they come into full effect from September. Plus, we also have all the relevant documentation in place well ahead of that September date.

For Mark Smith, owner of MS Electrical Services, ongoing training and development is invaluable not only for the team but also for clients too. ‘As a business, we’re committed to ongoing professional development and also to maintaining compliance with all necessary regulations,’ comments Mark. ‘When we heard that the new regulations manual was to go live in September, we booked on the NICEIC course at the first available opportunity and we’re now fully up to speed with all the changes that lie ahead. That means that our clients can rest assured that we’re operating to the very latest regulations and standards.’

Testimonials

I recently used MS Electrical Services for the first time, with them having been recommended by a leading local company. I would like to commend and congratulate them on the speed and efficiency of their response to my enquiry and in particular the work that was carried out speedily and cleanly at very reasonable cost. The engineer who attended site was smart, friendly and operated in a professional manner. I will use their services in the future and would highly recommended them to any interested parties.
