How overloading your extension leads can cause issues

At a recent PAT testing appointment in Cambridge we were shocked to discover an extension cable that had repeatedly been overloaded. As the images show, the plug had started to burn and could easily have triggered an electrical fire that would have had potentially fatal consequences for the occupants.

It's vital to follow a number of simple, basic rules when using extension cables, as we explained in a recent news story.
