Consumers are today being warned by consumer watchdog Which? to avoid purchasing up to 236 models of fridges and freezers which have flammable backs as they could pose a considerable fire risk. Although unlikely to cause a fire directly, flammable backs can help fires spread, and the move by Which? follows a five-year campaign by the London Fire Brigade to have full fire-resistant backing made compulsory.
